A native of Saskatoon, Allen Harrington is one of Canada's leading young saxophonists. In November 2006, he became the first Canadian and only the second North American to ever reach the final round of the International Adolphe Sax Competition, the world's most important competition for saxophonists. He finished fourth from a field of 144 of the finest young saxophonists in the world. Presently, Harrington is the youngest faculty member at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Music, where he teaches saxophone, bassoon and chamber music. A graduate of the Juilliard School, Winnipeg-born pianist David Moroz enjoys a career as one of Canada's most versatile artists. As a soloist, he has performed in every major Canadian city and as a collaborative artist, he appears regularly in recital with Canada's most distinguished musicians. Twice nominated for Manitoba's Artist of the Year, he is a frequent guest of CBC Radio and is a veteran performer at Canada's most important music festivals. In order to present as much variety as possible for the audience, Allen Harrington and David Moroz have designed a program that not only features duos for the artists, but also includes works that spotlight the soprano saxophone, alto saxophone and solo piano in turn.

The Celtic Tenors
. . . due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to present The Celtic Tenors, however, in it's place, we are proud to bring to Estevan, DESTINO.

DESTINO
Sunday, March 8, 2009
St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church
2:30 p.m.

Three celebrated young talents "Leon Leontaridis, Joey Niceforo and Paul Ouellette" recently joined to form DESTINO, whose name means "destiny" in Italian and Spanish. Before forming the group, the three vocalists, who have varied musical backgrounds including pop, opera, gospel, R&B, soul, jazz and musical theatre were pursing successful solo corers, from singing at Carnegie Hall and for the Pope to a #1 radio single. After being hired to work on a project together, the men realized that they possessed a strong chemistry both on-stage and off. And with that, DESTINO was born. DESTINO's style has been described as "pop with an opera flair" or vice-versa. Born out of a desire to bring opera music to a wider audience, the style has been dubbed "popera" and is currently sweeping the musical charts, with singers such as Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban and II Divo selling millions of CDs worldwide. With the formation of DESTINO, "popera" now has Canadian representation. DESTINO's members have received much critical and media acclaim. Insight Magazine said, "Joey Niceforo has one of the most robust and exciting voices I've heard in a long time. He's riveting on stage" Said the Surrey Leader about Leontaridis, A voice like Leon's comes once in a hundred years. And the Victoria Times said, "Ouellette displays an impressive ability to imbue a song with emotion."
